http://ca.rockstarenergy.com/company/news/matt-goerke-ties-colton-facciotti-in-450-points-chase <![CDATA[Matt Goerke Ties Colton Facciotti in 450 Points Chase ]]> 2018-06-20T08:16:19-07:00 Although Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha’s Matt Goerke didn’t quite climb the highest rung of the podium at Round 4 of the Rockstar Energy Triple Crown MX Tour, which was held in Minnedosa, MB this past Saturday, he moved up the 450 Pro scoreboard from second place to first, securing a points tie with archrival Colton Facciotti. Both riders currently hold down 199 points as the series heads east, following four rounds in Canada’s western provinces. Goerke’s teammate, Dillan Epstein, also moved ahead on the points scoreboard, vacating eighth place for seventh.

Perfect weather and track conditions – with a comfortable racing temperature of 20°C – greeted the MX Tour contenders at McNabb Valley MX, which hosted its first national motocross event. Both pro classes delivered top-flight, nail-biting racing action on the newly constructed track, with the frontrunners just about breathing down each other’s necks from start to finish.

In the first 450 Pro moto, defending champ Goerke managed a top-10 start that saw him charging around the track in seventh place, after one lap. With everyone pouring on the gas, it took Goerke five laps to make his way into fourth place, a position he would have to live with for the rest of the moto. Despite herculean efforts to make it a top-three finish, the Florida native was unable to stick a pass on third-place Cole Thompson. When the checkered flag was waved Goerke and Thompson followed second-place Tyler Medaglia and winner Kaven Benoit across the finish line.

The second moto start again saw Goerke within the top-10, this time in sixth place, after one lap. He quickly parlayed that into fourth, riding the wheels off his YZ450F to start zeroing in on third place. As in Moto 1 lappers played a major role in the up-front action; at times they were advantageous to a passing manoeuvre, at other times disadvantageous.

With the blazing speeds being recorded by the top-five and challenging track conditions to negotiate, it took Goerke till lap 12 to make a definitive move into third. Once again he was looking at Thompson’s rear fender; once again he would follow him across the finish line, albeit in a podium finish this time out. At the head of the pack Benoit made it a clean-sweep afternoon. When all was said and done Goerke left Minnedosa with third overall, and in a good position to build towards his fourth 450 Pro national title as the MX Tour resumes for Round 5 at Sand Del Lee in Ontario.

For his part, Epstein had to contend with another weekend of finishing off the podium. The Californian produced a first and second moto start that saw him around 10th place as the throng blitzed its way into turn one. Despite going for broke, he would finish outside the top-five both times out. In the first moto he made his way into a seventh-pace finish – in moto two he improved on that finish by one position to claim sixth. Although the sixth overall Epstein garnered for his efforts is not what he had hoped for at the beginning of the day, he was able to take solace with the fact that he moved ahead in the points from eighth to seventh. With five rounds left on the schedule, he is in a position to still break into the top-five to top-three before season’s end.

“The team has been working really hard and I believe it shows. We’re heading into the east tied for the points lead with Matt and we’re making improvements each week with Dillan. This break gives us some time to review the west rounds and come out in full force for the east,” team manager Steve Simms said.

The Rockstar Energy Triple Crown Series continues with Round 5 of the MX Tour, after a three-week break, on Saturday, July 7th at Sand Del Lee Motocross Park in Ottawa, Ontario.

http://ca.rockstarenergy.com/company/news/nautique-wake-games-off-to-flying-start <![CDATA[Nautique Wake Games Off to Flying Start ]]> 2018-06-20T08:16:18-07:00 Orlando, Fla. — A conglomerate of the world’s best wakeboarders converged on the Orlando Watersports Complex to begin competition of the annual Nautique Wake Games Presented by Rockstar, one the sport’s largest and most prestigious events. Both the Pro Men and Pro Women showed off the results of their offseason training regiment, displaying progressive riding with massive aerials and technical rail maneuvers.

Highlighting the elite Pro Men’s division today was the return of Bob Soven, who was sidelined much of last season from injury. During his triumphant return, Soven unleashed an arsenal of stylish tricks to win his heat and secure a spot in Saturday’s quarterfinals round. The division also saw the highly-anticipated King of Wake professional debut of Mike Dowdy. The winner of last season’s Overton’s Junior Pro Series didn’t disappoint, boosting some of the biggest airs of the day, including the very elusive mute double roll to revert to win his heat and claim a spot in the quarterfinals.

“It’s clear everyone put in a lot of time training during the offseason and came to Wake Games to show off their new and improved bag of tricks,” said Chris Bischoff, King of Wake competition director. “The Nautique G23 is pumping out a perfect wake, so fans can expect to see some huge tricks throughout the event.”

Early indications suggest the Pro Women are bringing female wakeboarding to new heights. Leading the charge during day one at Wake Games was Melissa Marquardt who linked together a well balanced run of big airs and smooth rail work to post the day’s top score of 85.00.

The Nautique Wake Games is stop number one on the eight-event King of Wake Series. Online adult tickets are available for $7 (46% off the gate price) and include an exclusive Overton’s discount code for online buyers only. http://ca.rockstarenergy.com/company/news/day-two-of-nautique-wake-games-sees-strong-performances-by-riders-of-all-ages <![CDATA[Day Two of Nautique Wake Games Sees Strong Performances by Riders of all Ages ]]> 2018-06-20T08:16:18-07:00 Orlando, Fla. — The prevailing theme of day two at the Nautique Wake Games presented by Rockstar was wakeboarding spans multiple generations and knows no borders. Athletes as young as nine and older than 40 and coming from as far away as Brazil put in top tier performances at one of the sport’s most prestigious events.

One of the day’s most competitive divisions proved to be the Men’s 2 with athletes between the ages of 25-29 battling it out for a spot in tomorrow’s final round. Separating himself from the talented field of riders was Tim Pitschke, who leveraged a run that included big airs and prime style to win the heat. Pitschke will be joined in the finals by Corbin Blanton, Rob Corum and Dylan Wickersham.

“Today really spoke to how far the sport of wakeboarding has progressed,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director. “We saw great riding from wakeboarders from all over the world, guys that have been involved with the sport since day one and people that have only discovered the sport in the past year or two. Regardless of age or skill level, everyone was stoked to be part of the Nautique Wake Games today.”

Also registering an impressive display of all-around solid riding at day two was the riders in the Junior Women’s division. The cream of the crop was Larisa Morales who used a strong aerial attack to win her heat. Chloe Mills also put in a formidable performance in the heat to claim a spot in the Junior Women’s finals tomorrow.

http://ca.rockstarenergy.com/company/news/harley-clifford-wins-nautique-wake-games-nicola-butler-claims-pro-womens-title <![CDATA[ Nicola Butler Claims Pro Women’s Title | Harley Clifford Wins Nautique Wake Games ]]> 2018-06-20T08:16:18-07:00 Orlando, Fla. — Putting an exclamation point on four days of progressive riding across 24 divisions at the Nautique Wake Games presented by Rockstar, Harley Clifford took top honors in the Pro Men’s finals, the event’s elite division. Nicola Butler also went home a champion, putting in a top notch performance to claim first place in the Pro Women’s division.

Making the most of the G23’s huge wake, Harley Clifford boosted his way to first place with a combo of gigantic airs and stylish rail riding. The win gives last year’s King of Wake champion an early upper hand in defending his crown. It was also a great day in Orlando for Clifford’s fellow Aussie countryman Dean Smith, who used his collection of signature airs to lift his way onto second place.

“It was the first contest of the season so I’m super pumped to get the win,” said Clifford. “I had a pretty relaxing offseason now I’m amped for the rest of the year!”

The Pro Women finals saw a heated battle from some of the sport’s top females. Taking top spot on the podium was Nicola Butler, who’s well-balanced run was too much for Raimi Merritt and Dallas Friday to overcome, who finished in second and third respectively.

Claiming the early overall lead in the Overton’s Junior Pro series and earning bragging rights in his division as the 2013 Nautique Wake Games champion was Noah Flegel. Clocking a near flawless finals run, Flegel, 15, pulled off massive aerials that most kids his age can only dream about sticking.

The only event of its kind, the Nautique Wake Games also includes a team format competition featuring 10 teams that includes riders from all 24 divisions. Based on results from day three and four at Wake Games the athletes, which are separated by age, sex and skill level, accumulated points toward a team score based on their individual placement in that division. Team Tony Carroll posted the highest collective score and will hold on to bragging rights for the next year.

Recognized as the best non-professional rider throughout the Nautique Wake Games, Tyler Higham was honored with the PCM Engines top amateur award

As an added bonus, following competition fans were privy to the Polaroid Action Big Air Kicker Contest. Launching from a ramp, athletes pulled some of the biggest airs ever seen. Claiming first place in the specialty event was Dean Smith, who stuck a massive backside 720.

Recognized as the best non-professional rider throughout the Nautique Wake Games, Tyler Higham was honored with the PCM Engines top amateur award.

Lake Tahoe, Calif. -- The first webisode in a new series entitled New Hights featuring US Olympic snowboarder Elena Hight is now live online. The four-webisode series was produced by Rockstar Energy and follows Hight during her 2013 winter season, from rehabbing a hip injury to creating history in women’s snowboarding with a groundbreaking trick in the halfpipe at X Games Aspen.

Elena Hight is one of snowboarding’s premier athletes. At age 23, she is already a two-time Olympian, having represented the US in the halfpipe in Turin and Vancouver. After a record-breaking year for Hight, she has her sights set on the chance to represent the US again in Sochi.

In the premiere episode of New Hights, viewers will see a recap of Hight’s summer in southern California, which concentrates on hip rehabilitation as she prepares for the 2013 competition season. It then follows Elena to her first contest in Breckenridge for the Winter Dew Tour. The episode closes with Hight back in her hometown of South Lake Tahoe for a Rockstar trip at Sierra Mountain, where she connects with teammates Chas Guldemond and Mason Aguirre to ride with high schoolers from around the country for the winter S.W.A.T. tour.

Run-time on the episode is seven minutes.

During X Games Aspen 2013, Hight landed the first ever double backside alley-oop rodeo in a halfpipe competition by a woman or a man. This trick has taken women’s snowboarding progression to a new level; and will further challenge her fellow athletes as they look towards Sochi in 2014. And it also landed her a silver medal in Aspen.

Episode #2 will launch on May 13.

Agueda has always been a demanding track, and for the first time since Thailand the riders had to face ‘hot temperatures’ with 25°C in Portugal. The ground was rough and slippery on Saturday, and was more wet on Sunday as the organisers watered the track during the night.

Now a top ten regular after a difficult start to the season as he recovered from injuries operation this winter, Dylan Ferrandis recorded his best result of the season to date when he crossed the finishing line in fifth place at the end of the first tough race around the demanding track in the hills 30 kilometres from the Atlantic coastline. A repeat or better performance was expected in the second race as the teenager charged through the field and was in fifth position again during the opening lap, but a wayward rival caused a collision, the impact snapping the chain of Ferrandis' machine to eliminate him from the race.

Deprived of the services of Valentin Teillet for the remainder of the series after specialists discovered more serious damage in his shoulder than had previously been diagnosed, Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki drafted in young Frenchman Jason Clermont for the weekend. Coming back to the GP’s, the former 85cc European Champion who was racing the MX1 class in France tested the bike a few days before the event; he responded admirably to the team’s expectations with points-scoring rides to nineteenth and fifteenth.

Dylan Ferrandis: “ I had a good feeling with this track right from the first practice session, and I qualified in fifth place. My start in the first race was great; I raced top six all race to finish fifth, even though I had some discomfort from pumped-up forearms as it’s the first the this season that I have been racing at the front of the pack. My second start was not as good but I made a lot of good passes on the first lap and had just passed Charlier before he jumped on my bike and my chain was broken with the impact. It’s frustrating, but I’ve no more physical problems and feel that I’m improving and I will soon be battling for podium results.”

Jason Clermont: “I only tested the bike a few hours before coming here, and it was great to come back to the GPs on a good 250. I had good lap times in the races, but I need to improve my starts, to be faster in the corners and be more aggressive during the first few laps to get better results. I came from a long way back in both races to score points each time, and this was a demanding track to race for my return to the GPs.”]]>
